SandBox Utah: Salt Lake Tribune "Crockett, Winder advance to GOP primary in mayor’s race "

What is Utah's SandBox Commentators?

An experiment is the full answer.  In the upper corner of the left sidebar, click on the country road photo icon and jump over to our home hub.  'Colorado's SandBox Commentators'.

Unapologetically pursuing and tracking patterns within the news others make since 2010.

You should also read up on our 'Rules, Regs and Worth'  which is found here.  Overall, there is where you will find the fastest insight into what we're all about.

We're not just another news roundup blog.  Tune in for a few months, preferably daily and if not then at least weekly and you will notice the patterns we see in Utah news, folks, information and events.  We are a comfortable and open forum for avatars in commentary.  Most of us Independent Conservatives, Republicans and Libertarians.  Definite lean right.  With that said, we have a healthy number of  reasonable liberals who wear 'hearing aids' and do listen....who call us their 'home hub' as well.  Makes for some lively conversational threads once in awhile and for sure, reveals 'social Darwinism' at its finest.

Forewarned that cops, military, lawyers, construction folks and the business minded follow us pretty closely.  I think it's because they think in logical patterns (for the most part) and that they also gain insight into a lot of issues and such that their lines of work are oriented toward.

We are not going to come in here and insult Utahans intelligence by commenting like a bunch of know-it-alls.  Quite a few of us blog regularly on national political blogs such as Red State.  We also love our politics and surf mercilessly for good conversation on areas of interest.

As your moderator, I am trying to get away from the 'kid's' (commentators) that hang around all the SandBoxBlog family of blogs referring to me as 'Nanny'.  Yes, it does fit in many ways, not the least of which is my zero tolerance level for bad behaviors going on in blog threads.  You were raised better than that and minding your manners is 'anticipated'.  I believe in you showing me that you can play nice in our SandBox and if you find yourself in a bit of a spot with me or your fellows; you can then show me how respectful you can be.  Takes an awful lot to be tossed out of here for good.

Posting will happen daily, for the most part.  Please email any great Utah news sources, blogs or Independent media that you want me to look over.  If anyone knows of a phenomenal professional photographer that would like free advertising linked up to them for a daily Morning Photo (see Colorado's SandBox Commentators for examples) I appreciate the referral.

The daily posts follow a certain editorial flow.  We start off with Human Interest stories, then go to local and state (sometimes regional and national) politics, environment and education and opinion.  We then jump to law enforcement, military, justice and courts within the state and region.  End up with a look at national and world politics.  Sometimes welcoming guest bloggers.

Thanks for stopping by and we hope you'll jump in with some comments that help us get to know the folks over in Utah a bit better than we do now.

 Mike Gorrell:
"Mark Crockett and Mike Winder left behind four fellow Republicans in the race for Salt Lake County mayor, but neither could muster enough support at Saturday’s GOP county convention to avoid a June 26 primary.

Crockett, a former county councilman and businessman, came close.....

......Winder, who overcame a rebuke from county Republican Party officials while being criticized extensively and sued for writing newspaper articles under the pseudonym Richard Burwash, intends to spread the message that he is the candidate of limited government and economic development.

"I have a track record," he said, citing his successes in running the state’s second most-populous city and a temperament that will allow him to work well with officials from cities in the county."
